Written by Laurie Young, exploring ways of making business and technology work together better
When a company first reaches out to me, frequently, it’s with one of two questions: “Do I know any good developers?” or “Am I available as a developer?”. They think adding another developer will give them faster, better results. But that’s only sometimes the case.
Business leaders and managers often ask me for advice on technical issues. Generally, they ask something like “How do I deliver my company’s service online?” or “Should I build an app?” or “Should we be making more use of AI in our software?”. Each of these questions are really part of another, more general question. It’s one I often get explicitly asked: “What’s a good technical strategy?”
