A short note on privacy.

This site is run by me, Laurie Young, as a sole trader based in London. I collect as little personal data as I can get away with, and I don't share what I do collect with anyone.

What this site does and doesn't do

This site sets no cookies. It runs no advertising. It doesn't load tracking pixels from social networks or ad platforms. The fonts and images are served from this domain, not from third-party CDNs.

What I do collect, and why

Site usage

I use a self-hosted instance of Plausible Analytics to see roughly how many people visit, which pages they read, and where they came from. Plausible is cookieless and doesn't track people across sites. It records anonymous, aggregated counts — never individual identifiers. I use this to understand which writing is useful and which isn't, and for nothing else.

The contact form

If you send me a message through the contact form, your name, email and message are stored briefly by Netlify (who host this site) and forwarded to my inbox. I read every one myself. I keep the email so I can reply and refer back to it if we end up working together. I don't add you to any list. I don't share your message with anyone.

Booking a call

The "book a call" links take you to Calendly, a third-party service. If you book a time, Calendly stores the details you give them (name, email, the time you picked) and tells me. Their privacy policy covers that. Nothing about that booking is stored on this site.

The newsletter

If you sign up to the newsletter, I'll use a service called Kit to send it. They store your email and a record of which emails you've opened. Their privacy policy covers that. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of any email, and that removes you from the list entirely.

Server logs

The web host (Netlify) keeps short-term server logs as part of running the site. These contain things like IP addresses and request paths. I don't access these for any purpose other than diagnosing problems, and they're discarded by Netlify on their own schedule.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask me what personal data I hold about you, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete it. Email laurie@laurieyoung.co.uk and I'll do it. There's no form, no faff.

Changes to this page

If I change how the site handles data — for example by introducing a new tool — I'll update this page. The version below tells you when it last changed.
